Shoot our logo contest: Amelia Johnston and Rémi Thériault
Amelia Johnston is an Ottawa based photographer who recently graduated with a degree in Applied Photography from Sheridan College. Having traveled extensively across Thailand after she graduated, she now calls Ottawa home where she shoots food, lifestyle and portraiture photography. For a handful of her entries, they actually came from a free trip out to Bangkok that she had won in another photo contest!
Here's Amelia's explanation of these shots: The first few days my travel bud and I were scared shitless of the crazy streets so we hibernated in our very sketchy hotel room (last 2 photos.) When the culture shock of bangkok settled, we explored the country for 2 months, creating the first two photos; Kelsey snorkelling with schools of barracudas and a little fat thai kid dancing in the world's biggest market. What an insane place.
Rémi Thériault is a commercial and editorial photographer living and working out of Ottawa, Canada. With clients across Canada including Worn Journal and Ottawa Magazine, Remi is one of the hardest working dudes we know! For his entry, he was recently in San Francisco for a shoot which included a private tour of Alcatraz. As Remi recalls, "Ranger John showed me around for about an hour. We got to the lighthouse and asked: "Wanna to go up?" Ranger John followed by asking me regulatory health questions: "Are you in good health? Any heart problems? You an active fella?" Then took his jacket under his arm and made our way up the 30m lighthouse. We caught our breath when we got to the top, then I hear: "Wanna go on top?" I go up this tiny ladder till I'm standing on the roof of the lighthouse. I surprised that as many as 100 people get to go on top, but knowing that Uma Thurman was the last one up there made it a little more special."
More entries to come, along with the announcement of the winner on Friday, January 25th. Many thanks to everyone that entered! Stay tuned.
