Shoot our logo contest: Michael Marquette & Alli Asudeh
So our next set of runner-ups were some of our favourites! Both of these entrants are graduates from the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa! The first we'd like to talk about, is Michael Marquette's entry:
Mike's entry in our opinion had one of the best stories to it. It including homeless people, skateboarding and hideaway skate spots:
"We were told about a new place that arose from a local skateboarder of Ottawa. A flat slab of concrete where other skateboarders dragged and built obstacles to skate. We had to trek to the location. The moment I took the picture we were sneaking away from the O-train to a path that led into the woods. I waited as they walked away until they seemed so small in the surroundings. Beyond this point was a long walk with homeless peoples summer homes . We made sure to watch our step as we walked by them.
We emerged from the woods crossing over a fence, leading into a field where they piled snow from the city. The place was supposed to be kept secret, so I kept it that way. This is merely a small section of what we saw together on our trip witnessing new things."
This photo had tons of elements that Maru was founded upon and it was definitely a very close runner-up! Thanks a ton Mike!
Secondly, as you may have seen Alli Asudeh's wolf man entry earlier this week, Alli sent us a handful of really amazing images. In regards to the one seen above, Alli simply loves processed food. As she described to us, she "loves that hungry man desserts always get a pea or corn stuck in them and that the film that is created on the meat after having sat on it for a while."
Below, the collage of the cat in the mountains was a dream she had. Alli explains that "the cats name was Bandit and he told me stories over tea, of a time when he climbed a mountain with a jellybean to plant at the top - so that in the spring the snow run off would taste like candy."
