Sunday Theatre: The Devil's Toy, This is Radio, Let us Roam
There are soo many great videos right now. Here are a few we wanted to feature on this rainy sunday afternoon.
The Devil's Toy was one of the world's first skateboarding films made in 1966 by Claude Jutra in our very own backyard of Montreal, Canada. Fifty-four years later, the National Film Board of Canada has teamed up with 14 cinematographers to recreate and reinterpret Jutra's work in modern times! Featuring the likes of Corey Adams, Greg Hunt and Fred Mortagne, the series of short films are quite excellent and it's super exciting to see a project of this nature headed by our Film Board here in Canada! If you have the time, you should definitely check out thedevilstoy.com and peep some of the shorts!
This is Radio is a video series from Transom.org. The series is directed, shot and edited by our good friend, Andrew Norton. He's one of ex-editor's at SBC Magazine and the creator behind the amazing set of documentaries, The Photographer Series. Andrew is seriously an incredible individual and helped us a ton over the years. Both inside and outside of skateboarding, the dude's just got the knack for getting the story. In this series of documentaries, Andrew takes an inherently non-visual medium and puts it into the visual limelight as he takes the faces behind some of the infamous voices, and puts them in front of his lens. Here's one of our favourites from the series, Joe Richman of Radio Diaries. Can't wait for the Jonathan Goldstein episode!
Lastly "Let us Roam" features the likes of Arto Saari, Greg Hunt, Ray Barbee and Atiba Jefferson. With thoughtfully produced views of these greats, Leica has definitely hit the mark on this one! Here's the vid on everyone's favourite Skateboarder/Photographer, Arto Saari! Have a great rest of the weekend y'all!
